Milwaukee Faves

SO I am back. Like, for real this time guys! Last week, someone had mentioned to me that I should update my Instagram bio and take down the link to my blog since it’s been so long since I have written. **sad face. So here I am, back in action.

Today I am sick with the flu and as much as I would like to sit on my couch and watch Grey’s reruns all day and send annoying Snapchats to my friends… I figured this is a more meaningful way to pass the time.

I have had so many people who ask me about my top spots in Milwaukee and I’ve created this little list to help you guys out.

Gotta give a shout out to my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee, Balzac. To the extensive wine list and seasonal changing small plate menu, it by far is my most visited spot. ALSO one of the best places to go on a Friday/Saturday for late night food. Oh and 1/2 off bottles of wine EVERY SUNDAY. Yay for Balzac.

#2 on the list would be Five O’Clock Steakhouse. After successfully venturing to every steak joint MKE has to offer, this one takes the cake. To the supper club vibe, to the best old fashioned and the most tender filet I’ve ever had, you win best steak in my heart.

So, anyone who knows me knows my favorite foods are pizza and spaghetti. Like so basic and simple but I can’t get enough of the two. Best Italian goes to Calderone Club. The Spaghetti Al Filetto Di Pomodoro Con Polpette… aka spaghetti and meatballs is amazing and I.can’t.get.enough. And the traditional style pizzas are perfection.

Giovanni’s Tenuta’s come in right after for best Italian.

Best non-traditional pizza (& brunch) you ask? Wolf Peach. Not to mention, it’s only a block from my apartment. It’s one of Milwaukee’s top spots. The cocktails, the communal atmosphere and the wood-fired zaa really set this place apart. Not to mention this is another great spot for small plates and local, fresh, ingredients.

Other notible brunches- The Knick Blue’s Egg. Brunch is a lifestyle. Get with it.

BEST BURGER AHH! Merriment Social, duh. The Merriment Burger reminds me of a gourmet Big Mac. House made pickles, and special ” social sauce” make it the best burger around. One of the best places to go BTW in the spring/summer/sometimes in February because Wisconsin is crazy. They have these amazing garage doors that open up and let a really wonderful breeze in. OH and they have servers that walk around with a cart and you can buy fresh made dim sum. Sold? Thought so.

***I also really enjoy Oscar’s for a classic cheeseburger and some tap beer for a cheap fare.

Best new restaurant, would include Fresh Fin Poké. This place is brand spanking new. And I am OBSESSED. Build your own Poké bowl was everything this city needed. It’s like Chipotle, but for Poké bowls.

In addition, Third Coast Provisions also falls in this category of best new restaurants. Have you guys seen this place? It’s so beautiful. This place is the perfect blend of casual downstairs oyster bar and trendy upstairs restaurant and bar. They are one of the few places in MKE that offer a variety of fresh seafood. The seasonal cocktail menu is a perfect addition to compliment the menu.

Best Thai would have to go to Thai-Namite. Most amazing Pad-Thai ever. Along with the curry and the made to order sushi. Oh and the Goyza. And they deliver. BOOM.

So I love Mexican. If you want some killer tacos or enchiladas you’ll want to try Botanas. It’s crazy good. Walkers point knows how to do Mexican food like no other.

Other notable restaurants

Odd Duck La Merenda- Small plate heaven.

The Noble– American style food, small menu that changes daily.

Amilinda- Tiny venue, big Spanish/Portuguese flavors.

Supper- Modern Supper Club vibes. Gotta love it.

Yard (The Iron Horse) & The Outsider (Kimpton Journeyman Hotel)- Best patios. And most fabulous cocktails.

Blu, Tre Rivali, Onesto- BEST CHEESE BOARDS.

The City Market & Beans and Barley  Cheap, quick, amazing lunch options that aren’t Subway. (No offense Dad, I hate Subway)

Last but not least- (LOL you guys had to have known I was going to include this one) best lobster mac and cheese The Capital Grille.

I am sure there’s a few that I have forgotten, but these will do for now.

xx
