Garlic basil marinara

Spaghetti is my favorite food and when I can cut out some of the unhealthy ingredients, even better.

I had a basic bitch jar of basil marinara in my pantry and was super tempted to use it because it’s cheap and easy and thought – NAH I can make this even better myself.

I walked over to the store, picked up some fresh basil, 1 big jar of whole San Marzano tomatoes and a package of Banza Spaghetti noodles and was ready to rock and roll.

Ingredients:

Spaghetti (I love Banza chickpea noodles)

Ground turkey

1/2 cup of chopped basil

5 cloves of garlic, smashed

1 big jar of whole San Marzano tomatoes (trust me so much better than anything else)

1/2 cup of red wine

Some olive oil, sea salt and red pepper flakes to season

AND THAT’S IT.

Method –

Cook your ground turkey on medium-high heat with a little olive oil for about 7 minutes. Remove from heat. Smash your garlic and cook over medium-high heat in the same pan as the turkey meat with a little olive oil and red pepper flakes for about 2 minutes. Add in your can of tomatoes and use a wooden spoon to start to crush the whole tomatoes up. Add in the wine and simmer on low for about 30 minutes. Season with salt. Cook your noodles, add them to the sauce. Sprinkle fresh basil over the pasta and top with Parmesan cheese.
