Torchio

My favorite question I get is – “What’s your favorite restaurant?” and to me, that is such an impossible question because my favorite dishes are from a number of restaurants. How would one choose?

The Scallop Pasta from Torchio, the brussels sprouts bruschetta from Nico Ostera, the Burrata from Beatrix, the Japanese A5 Wagyu Strip Loin from Swift and Sons. It’s hard for me to pinpoint my “favorite restaurant.”

BUT Torchio – has stolen my heart.

This was the second time I was here, not only was the service was amazing but the food, wine and the company were stellar too.

So far, I have shared with my friends:  Burrata, Mussels with white sauce, The Scallops Pasta, the Bucatini all’ Amatriciana, the Spring Vegetable Pappardelle and the classic Torchio. The sauv blanc I drink  – Allan Scott, refreshing, crisp and not overly acidic.

Oh, and the Tiramisu and Olive Oil Cake are better than the ones I enjoyed sitting on a terrace in Italy. So there’s that.

The ambiance is warm and inviting. The sidewalk patio makes you feel like you’re not even in Chicago. With lush flowers and greenery surrounding the closed-off space, it brings the best of the city out. The owner, Bill can be seen greeting tables in-between busy rushes, which makes it all the more special to me. It’s the best experience.

On another note:

I feel like since I’ve moved to Chicago I can’t really say enough good things about the people I have met and the experiences I’ve had.

But damn, what a summer this one has been. 2018 was an exciting and heartfelt year with the loss of my Dad – but 2019 since I started a new job, met this incredible group of people, that are fun and outgoing, it makes me so happy to feel like I have found a “home” here.

xx
